Drug charges were dropped Friday against a South Florida teen who made national headlines when she flipped off a Miami-Dade judge in court last year.

Penelope Soto completed the Miami-Dade Drug Court program and had all charges dropped against her during Friday's hearing, attorney Stephen Rosen said.

Soto, who took more than 100 drug tests and never tested positive for any substance, said the program changed her life, Rosen said.

The 19-year-old made national news during a Feb. 4 bond hearing before Circuit Judge Jorge Rodriguez-Chomat when she was sentenced to 30 days in jail for contempt of court after cursing and giving him the middle finger.

The sentence was dropped four days later when Soto, who had been arrested on a Xanax possession charge, apologized to Rodriguez-Chomat.
