Newtown School Shooter's Father Calls Son “Evil,” Says He Wishes He Had Never Been Born

The father of Newtown, Conn. school shooter Adam Lanza says in his first public comments about the massacre that he wishes his son had never been born.

"That didn't come right away. That's not a natural thing, when you're thinking about your kid," Peter Lanza said in an interview with The New Yorker of his son Adam, who killed 20 first-graders, six educators and himself at Sandy Hook Elementary School in December 2012. "But God there's no question. There can only be one conclusion, when you finally get there ... You can't get any more evil."

Peter Lanza told The New Yorker he hadn't seen his 20-year-old son in two years at the time of the massacre.

Adam Lanza fatally shot his mother, Nancy, at their Newtown home before heading to the elementary school. He killed himself as police arrived.

Peter Lanza, who was divorced from Nancy Lanza, told The New Yorker he believed his son would've killed him if he'd had the chance.

He said he also believed his son could have been schizophrenic.
