Moment of Silence Observed at Columbia Mall

A week after a deadly shooting at a Maryland shopping mall, a moment of silence has been observed for the victims.

WBAL-AM reports that about two dozen people gathered around the fountain at the center of the Mall in Columbia at 11:15 Saturday morning. A larger crowd gathered around the boarded-up skateboarding shop called Zumiez where the shootings took place.

Two employees of the store, Brianna Benlolo and Tyler Johnson, were killed in the shooting. The shooter, Darion Aguilar, then took his own life. Police say they've found no connection between Aguilar and the victims. He was a skateboarder and frequented the mall.

Friends of Benlolo were also organizing a skate in Ellicott City's Centennial Park on Saturday afternoon to honor the victims.
