Man's Ear Sliced in Bodega Fight Over Bananas: Report

A Staten Island man who was arguing with a bodega worker over a bad bunch of bananas sliced the worker’s ear with a broken beer bottle, according to a report.

The 35-year-old man was arguing with the bodega worker outside the store on Broadway in West Brighton just before 10:30 p.m., reported the Staten Island Advance.

When the worker asked him to leave the store, the man broke a Heineken bottle and smashed the victim over the head, the paper reported.

Officers reportedly found a 9-inch kitchen knife in the man’s sweatshirt pocket. He is charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon, unlawful knife possession and harassment.

The victim sustained a laceration to the back of his left ear, according to the SI Advance.
