Fans React to US Women's Soccer Loss on Social Media

    The United States team reacts after their 1-1 (3-4 PSO) loss to Sweden.

    The U.S. women’s soccer team was eliminated by Sweden in a Rio Olympics quarterfinal match. The game went into overtime then ended in a penalty kick showdown. Sweden scored 4 penalty kicks while the United States ended up making only 3 penalty kicks. 

    Team USA’s goalkeeper Hope Solo paused to change gloves before the last penalty kick on goal. Solo stood nearly motionless near the goal line as the Swedish kicker scored the final penalty kick to win. 

    Fans took to social media to share their disappointment. The reigning Olympic gold medalists will return to the United States without a medal from Rio.
