Ohio Men Wrongly Convicted of Murder Released After 39 Years

Two Ohio men who were wrongly accused of murder had all charges against them dropped and were released after nearly four decades in prison on Friday, NBC News reported. Ricky Jackson, 57, and Wiley Bridgeman, 60, said they don't harbor bitterness over their unjust punishment. “I had plans for my life,” but “time is just something that you can't get back so I'm not going to really cry about it,” Jackson said. Jackson, who was originally sentenced to death, is the longest-held U.S. prisoner to be exonerated, the Ohio Innocence Project said. The two had the charges against them dropped after the witness, who is now 53, recanted his testimony last year, saying he was coerced by detectives, according to court documents.
