Car Plows Into Temple University Frat House After Possibly Being Involved in Hit-Run

A fraternity house on Temple University's main campus sustained serious damage overnight when police say a car plowed into the front of the building.

Police said a car driving down North Broad Street somehow lost a wheel then lost control and plowed into the frat house of Alpha Epsilon Pi, on Broad Street near Norris. AEPi is the university's Jewish fraternity.

The car's driver went to Temple University Hospital for treatment. There was no immediate word on the person's condition.

The car struck the house's front steps and a small porch in front of the house, causing the concrete and stone on the steps to crumble beneath it.

Police said they believe the car was involved in a hit-and-run crash elsewhere in the city, took off from that scene and then crashed at Temple. They were still investigating about 8:30 a.m. where that first crash may have taken place.

Police have not announced any charges.
