Heavy rain moved into the Philadelphia area Wednesday, making for a wet and slow evening commute home.
The NBC10 First Alert Weather Team issued a First Alert for heavy rain and localized flooding for the entire Philadelphia region through the evening commute. The First Alert was in effect until 10 p.m.
Leaves on roads and the rain led to slippery conditions, especially on narrow and winding roads.
Several crashes were reported in the area, including a crash that killed three people and closed busy Route 1 in Chester County.
The rain and gusty winds also led to more than 7,700 power outages for PECO customers throughout the region.
The gusty winds eventually pushed out the rain Wednesday night and will push the high temperatures down to the upper 50s by Thursday. Wednesday's high was around 70 degrees.
