A 21-year-old woman was hit by a car in Newark, Delaware shortly after midnight on Saturday.

Investigators say the woman, from Morristown, NJ, was visiting two of her friends, both 19-year-old students at the University of Delaware, for the school's Homecoming weekend.

At around 12:15 a.m., police say the three women were walking on East Cleveland Avenue when the 21-year-old was suddenly struck by a 2001 Dodge Dakota Pickup truck. Flying debris from the crash also struck the two other women.

Police say the driver of truck did not stop and continued westbound on East Cleveland Avenue. Witnesses were able to record the tag number on the vehicle. Police identified the driver as Errol Johnson, 46, of Newark.
