Young Wheelchair Athletes Meet to Compete in Philadelphia Basketball Tournament

Philadelphia Parks and Recreationโ€™s Carousel House hosted the 17th Annual Katie Kirlin Wheelchair Basketball Tournament over the weekend.

Teams from all over the east coast with players ranging in age from 7 to 18 competed in the co-ed tournament sponsored by the Katie Kirlin Fund.

The fundโ€™s mission is to provide financial support, that fosters participation in wheelchair sports for children in Philadelphia and surrounding areas.

Katie's Komets, based in Philadelphia, made it to the championship game, but lost to the Turnstone Flyers. The three-day tournament was played at the Carousel House and the High School of the Future in West Philadelphia.
