Workers Find Burning Body in Delaware County Park

Workers searching for downed trees found a burning body in the middle of a park

Workers checking damage in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene discovered a man's burning body in an Upper Providence park.

The workers were looking for downed trees in Hautman Park Monday afternoon when they saw what they thought was a brush fire, police say. The workers soon realized it was body on fire at about 1:30 p.m.

The burning body was found right in the middle of the small park, which is located at 90 West Lincoln St., Upper Providence Police Sgt. Michael Langdale told the Delaware County Times.

A wallet was found about 30 yards from the body but police are not yet releasing the name on the identification found inside, reports the Delaware County Times.

An autopsy is planned to determine the man's cause of death.

Upper Providence police Sgt. Michael Langdale told the Times that children don’t often play in the tiny park, and it is used mostly by people taking strolls or walking their dogs.
