Workers Duct Taped During Delaware Robbery

The workers at a New Castle County store got more than they bargained for late Saturday morning after a woman asked for a job.

Here is how it played out.

An employee at the Village Market on 1000 Ridge Road in Claymont, Del. answered a knock on the upstairs back door. A woman in her 20s met the employee and asked for a job application, according to Jeff Whitmarsh with Delaware State Police.

When the employee turned to ask a coworker for an application two men burst into the upper room of the store armed with guns.

The suspects used duct tape to bind the employees face down on the ground, said police.

The bandits bolted with an undisclosed amount of money. They fled in a black Ford SUV (possibly an Explorer) with Delaware tags, according to police.

Luckily no one was seriously injured.

Here is a description of the suspects, according to Delaware State Police:

  • Black female, 20 – 25 years old, 5’05” to 5’07”, 150 to 170 pounds, medium brown skin tone, straight hair wearing a pink coat

  • Black male, 20 – 25 years old, 5’08 to 5’10”, 180 – 200 pounds, muscular build, wearing a hooded sweatshirt with his face covered, armed with a handgun
