Dead Woman Found in Delco Parking Lot Identified

Police say the woman was found slumped in a car with a gunshot wound behind her ear.

The body of a woman was found in a Delaware County parking lot by landscapers on Friday afternoon, has been identified.

Upper Darby police say the vicitm is Camilla Stephenson, 18, of Philadelphia.

The landscapers say they discovered Stephenson slumped over in a blue Chrysler sedan around noon in the lot of the Creek Road Apartments on Dennison Avenue in Drexel Hill, according to police.

Cops say she was killed in the car, shot once behind the left ear, although they don't know whether or not the shooting occured in the parking lot.

"To take a shot in the back of the head like that, one shot, covered up and left in a parking lot. Then you got a suspicious vehicle and suspicious circumstances, says Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood.

Authorities tell NBC Philadelphia that Stephenson may have been dead for as many as 18 hours.

In a strange twist, authorities also tell NBC Philadelphia that the apparent owner of the sedan tried to report the vehicle stolen on Thursday, but ran out of the police station upon questioning.

They believe the Chrysler may be connected to a home invasion in Montgomery County.

Detectives are canvassing the vehicle for any evidence and will continue to investigate the incident.
