Woman Rescued From the River

Police plucked a woman out of an area river after she somehow wound up in the water early this morning.

Some people walking along Penn’s Landing around 1 a.m. spotted the woman in the Delaware River near the Independence Seaport Museum and called 911.

Police officers quickly arrived and were able to pluck the woman from the water.

The woman was transported to Jefferson University Hospital despite initially refusing to get into an ambulance. Authorities didn't release her condition.

It wasn’t clear why or how the woman wound up in the river.

A witness told NBC10 that the woman was screaming for help near the bank of the river.

Police didn’t say if any charges would be filed.
