Student Who Lost Leg When School Bus Hit Crowd to Testify

A former Bucks County Student who lost her leg in a school bus accident will testify in her trial against the district

A Bucks County student who lost her leg when a school bus slammed into a crowd of high school students is expected to testify this week in her lawsuit against the district.

Lawyers for Ashley Zauflik say the bus driver hit the accelerator instead of the brake when he crashed into a crowd of about 20 Pennsbury High School students in January 2007.

The National Transportation Safety Board and Falls Township police reached the same conclusion. But the district bus driver has insisted that a mechanical problem left him unable to stop the bus.

More than a dozen students standing outside at dismissal time and three on the bus were also injured.

Zauflik is now a 21-year-old college student.

The trial is expected to open Wednesday after jury selection Tuesday.
