A woman who allegedly made false accusations against a Lower Merion Police officer is now being ordered to stand trial.

In May of 2011, Gabrielle Drexler, 26, tearfully accused an officer of stalking and groping her during a public meeting. She claimed the officer repeatedly called her, texted her, looked into the windows of her home and at one point touched her inappropriately. Drexler also tried to sue Lower Merion Township for $100 million in damages, claiming she was traumatized.

After investigating the accusations, the Grand Jury claimed Drexler made the whole thing up in retaliation to a failed romance with the officer. Investigators say Drexler and the officer had an affair which ended when she found out he was married with small children. Drexler turned herself in back on November 18, 2011 and was arraigned on charges of Perjury, Tampering With Evidence, False Reports to Law Enforcement Authorities and other related offenses. The officer, who had been on administrative duty during the investigation, returned to his regular patrol duty.

On Tuesday Drexler was ordered to stand trial. She remains free on bail. She will face a formal arraignment on April 24.
