A woman is recovering after she was thrown from a car being pursued by Philadelphia Police.

Officers began following a man, wanted for a weapons violation, driving a silver Audi along North Broad Street around 10:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Philadelphia Police say.

The pursuit then moved onto Old York Road in the Hunting Park section of the city, where at Lycoming Street the driver stopped and tossed a woman from the car before speeding off, police say.

Police continued pursuing the Audi and were finally able to stop the driver five blocks away on the 3700 block of Darien Street.

Once stopped, officers took the man into custody. No word on charges.

The woman suffered minor injuries in the incident, police said.
