A woman was struck and killed as she crossed Route 40 in Delware Monday night.

Police are investigating a deadly crash in New Castle, Del. where a woman was thrown 50 feet.

Police say a woman was crossing Route 40 near the New Castle Airport shortly before 10 p.m. on Monday when she was struck by an SUV.

The impact threw the woman 50 feet before she landed on the ground. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the driver of the SUV remained at the scene.

Police did not immediately identify the victim. They continue to investigate the accident.
