Investigators say Tiffany Mitchell, of the 900 block of North Penn Street, befriended the man after she allegedly told him she needed a kidney transplant. Police say the man began giving her money after she allegedly told him she was having complications. The man gave her a total of $38,000, according to police. Police say the victim and his son reported the incident on October 29.

Mitchell also convinced the man to take out a loan to buy a 2011 Mercedes Benz for $60,000, according to investigators. The victim purchased the vehicle for Mitchell but it remained registered to him because he could not transfer it into her name, according to police.

On November 4, a tow truck arrived at the Whitpain Township Police Department with the Mercedes, police say. The tow truck driver told police that he met a woman in the parking lot of the Home Depot on S. Columbus Boulevard who asked that the car be towed to the police station. The tow truck driver later identified the woman as Tiffany Mitchell, according to police.

A warrant was issued for Mitchell charging her with theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception, receiving stolen property and disorderly conduct, according to police.

Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to call the Whitpain Township Police Department at (610) 279-9033.
