Chester County Woman Found Shot to Death Inside Abandoned Philadelphia Home

Olivia Moran of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, was found dead in an abandoned home along Kip Street in Philadelphia

An investigation is underway after a Chester County woman was found shot to death inside an abandoned property in Philadelphia's Kensington neighborhood Tuesday night.

A police officer was flagged down just before 6 p.m. by a woman who claimed someone had been shot inside a building on the 2800 block of North Kip Street. When the officer checked the building, he found a woman, later identified as Olivia Moran, lying in a pool of blood in a second-floor bedroom with a gunshot wound to her face.

“She was bleeding heavily,” Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said. “She appeared to have been just recently shot.”

Investigators said a bullet had exited through the back of her head. They also found a spent shell casing and a projectile inside the room. Moran, a 27-year-old from Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, was pronounced dead by responding medics just after 6 p.m.

The property appeared to be abandoned and was cluttered with debris and drug paraphernalia, investigators said.

“We believe it may be an abandoned property where individuals may hang out when they do their drugs,” Small said.

Police said Moran was naked from the waist down and they are investigating if she was also sexually assaulted.

While there are abandoned properties on the 2800 block of Kip Street, there are also several occupied row homes. Police are currently speaking with neighbors to see if anyone heard or saw anything prior to the shooting. They are also searching through surveillance videos.

Philadelphia police asked anyone with information to contact them.
