Woman Grabbed, Raped Inside Appliance Store: Police

A man is in police custody after investigators say he raped a woman inside a store.

Police say a 33-year-old woman was walking on the 4500 block of Torresdale Avenue around 5 a.m. on Sunday. Suddenly, police say, a man grabbed her and pulled her into the Torresdale Appliance Furniture Warehouse where he sexually assaulted her.

Investigators say the suspect was eventually apprehended by police and is currently in custody. They have not yet revealed his identity. The woman is currently being examined and interviewed by detectives in the Special Victim’s Unit.
