Police are on the hunt for a man who they say tried to steal a car while a woman was sleeping inside.
Police say a man and a woman stopped at a Dunkin Donuts at 3rd and Spring Garden streets. The woman was sleeping in the passenger seat while the man went inside, according to investigators.
As the woman slept, police say a suspect jumped inside the vehicle and started to drive away. The woman suddenly woke up and began to fight with the carjacker. Police say the carjacker drove five blocks before the woman managed to turn the car off.
Police say the car stopped at 8th and Spring Garden and the suspect fled the scene on foot. The woman suffered a few scratches but was not seriously hurt.
No arrests have been made and police have not yet released a description of the suspect. If you have any information on this incident, please call Philadelphia Police.
