A New Jersey woman accused of beating her elderly mother-in-law was arrested yesterday in New York City.
Authorities say 58-year-old Mary Tene attacked the 82-year-old in Englewood during a dispute over Tene's drug habit on Sept. 11, leaving her mother-in-law with head injuries and knocking out several teeth.
Officers arrested Tene as she walked out of a building in the Bronx on Monday.
Detective Capt. Tim Torell tells The Record newspaper Tene had cut and colored her hair and claimed to be her cousin.
Tene faces second-degree aggravated assault and elderly abuse charges.
Torrell told the paper that Tene has used numerous aliases in the past and has an extensive criminal record in multiple states.
