Woman Dies After Arriving at Hospital Covered in Feces, Maggots

A bed-ridden woman who was taken to the hospital Sunday covered in feces and maggots died Tuesday.

The 49-year-old woman from West Oak Lane was carried from her home and taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center in critical condition. She suffered from Spina bifida.

Officials have not released a cause of death. An autopsy is scheduled.

The condition in which the woman arrived to the hospital so concerned Einstein staff that they called Philadelphia Police, alleging neglect.

The Special Victims Unit said they continuing their investigation calling it one of neglect and are awaiting the outcome of the autopsy.
