Woman Charged in Dog Starvation Deaths

A northeastern Pennsylvania woman has been charged in the starvation deaths of seven dogs.

Court documents say a humane officer noticed a "smell of death" coming from Karen Reilly's mobile home in Edwardsville. Authorities say the officer found carcasses of seven dogs along with several live dogs that were severely emaciated.

Reilly was charged Friday with 31 counts of animal cruelty and related offenses. She was freed on $10,000 unsecured bail. She declined comment as she left her arraignment.

Authorities made the discovery on Sept. 27 inside the trailer where Reilly had been evicted. Police say she left the dogs behind.
