New Jersey Police Act Quickly to Help Woman Deliver Baby at Home

Police arrived just in time to make a special delivery inside a New Jersey home.

Early Monday morning police officers of West Windsor, New Jersey responded to an urgent request for help from a woman in labor at home. Officers arrived at the woman's residence around 2:42 a.m. and rushed to help the patient in “imminent delivery.”

Two other officers arrived shortly afterward and helped calm the father as well as comfort the woman. Police didn't identify the woman nor did they say exactly where she lives.

"Ptl. Erkoboni kept slight pressure on the baby’s head to prevent explosive delivery and encouraged the mother to push," said police.

The delivery was a success and the baby was delivered minutes later. Sgt. Michael McMahon arrived on the scene with an obstetrics kit and provided suction to the baby’s airway and helped the father cut the umbilical cord.

Mother and baby appeared to be healthy. An ambulance took them to the hospital.
