Police say they are interviewing a person of interest in the attack and sexual assault of a woman at a SEPTA station.

The woman was attacked after getting off the SEPTA Broad Street Line at Lehigh Avenue on May 26th at 9:00 p.m.

The 21-year-old victim told police that she first noticed the man, who was wearing sunglasses and a blue apron, when she boarded the train at 63rd and Market Streets in West Philadelphia. She says she noticed him again when she transferred onto the Northbound Broad Street Line.

NBC10's Claudia Rivero talked to police who called this a "stalking case."

"We backtracked all the way to where she entered that train at 63rd street, that male was there and he did follow her to where he assaulted her at 15th and Lehigh," said Lieutenant Anthony McFadden, Special Victims Unit.

As she exited the train at the Lehigh Avenue Concourse, she told police that same man came up to her, put a knife against her stomach and forced her into a nearby parking lot on 15th Street, where he sexually assaulted her, police said.

Surveillance video shows the suspect riding on SEPTA before the alleged attack happened.

Police say because of what the man was wearing it's possible he works at a fast food restaurant.

On Wednesday, the Special Victim's Unit told NBC10 a man is in custody for an unrelated incident. They consider that man a person of interest in the SEPTA assault case and are currently interviewing him.

If you recognize the man in this video, call Philadelphia Police at 215-686-TIPS.
