Woman Arrested After Infant Calls 911

Police: Woman left kids alone to get Burger King

Police in Delaware have charged a woman with endangering the welfare of a child after her one-year-old son dialed 911.

Mandy Dineen, 24, of Wilmington, was arrested on Saturday evening after police responded to a 911 hangup call from her home in the 700 block of Garnet Road. When police rang the doorbell, Dineen's six-year-old son answered the door, while the one-year-old was seen walking around the living room with a phone in his hand.

Investigators say that Dineen had left the house to get her son's food from a local Burger King and left them in the house alone. Police said that the six-year-old was worried that he and his brother had been left home alone and the one-year-old accidentally dialed 911.

Dineen arrived at the house soon after the police and was taken into custody without incident. She was arraigned and released on her own recognizance. She was ordered to have no unlawful contact with her children.

The children were placed with family members and the state Division of Family Services was notified.
