Wolf Still Considering Pension Bill, as Budget Talks Resume

Tom Wolf's spokesman says the governor continues to consider a Republican plan to scale back the cost of Pennsylvania's public pensions as his aides resume budget negotiations with legislative staffers.

The spokesman, Jeffrey Sheridan, said the Democratic governor won't make any announcement Monday on whether he'll veto the pension bill.

Sheridan says budget talks were planned among staff members from both sides as the state government operated without a budget for the sixth day. He did not rule out the possibility that Wolf may also take part in separate meetings with legislators.

Last week, Wolf vetoed a GOP budget bill and a bill to privatize state-controlled liquor and wine sales.

Without a budget in place, the Wolf administration no longer has the authority to pay vendors and many social services providers.
