Assault Victim Shot Just Weeks Before Testifying

Reward offered in homeless woman shooting

Authorities are offering a $1,000 reward in the shooting of a homeless woman in Camden who was critically wounded just weeks before she was to testify against a man who had nearly beaten her to death.

State prosecutors say they are looking for information on who shot Stephanie Warren, 48, in the head April 12. She remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Authorities say Warren appears to have been intentionally targeted.

In April 2012, Warren was beaten unconscious. Authorities say she identified her assailant as Allan Mattocks and was to testify against him at a trial due to start May 20.

Investigators are looking at Warren's role as a witness, but they have not yet charged anyone, according to Camden County Prosecutor’s Office spokesman Jason Laughlin.

Anyone with information is asked to contact prosecutor’s office investigator Paul Audino at 856-225-8449 or by email.
