New Castle County detectives have charged a 23-year-old woman with killing a 73-year-old man.
Police found the slain body of Reginald Sudler in the Gordon Heights community of New Castle County on Wednesday at 6:55 p.m. Officers had gone to Sudler’s home for a check on his welfare.
When they arrived, they found Sudler dead at the bottom of the first floor steps having suffered from apparent stab wounds.
Police later discovered evidence that there had been a struggle inside the home. Sudler’s car was also missing from the scene.
Further investigation revealed that Sudler’s car had been stolen and recovered following an accident on Dec. 9. They connected the theft to 23-year-old Ashley Richardson of Wilmington.
Detectives found Richardson at the Possum Park apartments and arrested her for having outstanding warrants.
After interviewing her and collecting further evidence, police then charged Richardson with the murder of Sudler and other weapons related offenses.

Richardson’s arraignment disposition is pending.
