Wilmington Police Investigating Toddler's Death

Wilmington police say they are investigating the death of a toddler who was brought to a hospital last week with traumatic injuries.

The News Journal reports 1-year-old A'Niah Davila-Torres died late Friday night after medical staff removed life-support systems that had sustained her for several days. Police say they are pursuing a death investigation.

Police were first alerted to the case Tuesday when staff at St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington notified authorities of the child's injuries. She was taken to the hospital by a daycare provider and her boyfriend.

The child's family blames the daycare provider for the injuries. But police Cpl. Mark Ivey says it's too early to say who is responsible.
