Discipline Upheld for Students Accused of Dorm Room Exorcism at New Jersey College

A state appeals court has upheld the punishments for two northern New Jersey college students accused of performing an exorcism on a fellow student.

The judges on Monday rejected the students' claim that William Paterson University administrators violated their rights by not letting them confront their accuser and not letting them have representation during a disciplinary hearing.

A woman told police she joined a "cult-like" group and that members locked her in a dormitory saying she was possessed and had to remove a demonicspirit. She says they tackled her and dragged her back into the room when she tried to escape.

One of the students was suspended for a year. The other was ordered to move out of a residence hall for a year.

Their attorney says his firm hasn't digested the opinion yet.
