Wildwoods (Again) Top NJ's Best Beaches

Wildwoods top list of 10-best beaches in the Garden State

No surprise here: The Wildwoods have once again taken top honors in New Jersey's annual best beaches contest.

It was the third-straight year combination of Wildwood, Wildwood Crest and North Wildwood topped the list. Wildwoods also swept the categories winning best Family Vacation, Day Trip and Ecotourism honors.

The New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium announced the winners at a news conference in Sandy Hook Thursday.

Ocean City came in second. The six towns on Long Beach Island placed third, followed by Sea Isle City, Belmar, Cape May, Manasquan, Island Beach State Park/Berkeley Township, Sandy Hook and Seaside Heights.

Manasquan and Belmar were new to the list. Falling off last year's list were No. 6 Asbury Park and No. 9 Cape May Point.

Brigantine, which didn't crack the Top 10 this year, was named best beach in Atlantic County.

The contest mixes the results of direct voting online, with scientific analysis of beaches on environmental and other criteria to rank the top 10 finishers.
