Pittsburgh police say detective shot at his own reflection in a mirror while chasing a drug suspect in a dimly lit house.

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Pittsburgh police say detective shot at his own reflection in a mirror while chasing a drug suspect in a dimly lit house.

Police are not identifying the detective, and don't know the name of the man they were chasing Wednesday.

Police were investigating drug activity in some nearby woods and the detective entered the house after police chased the armed man toward the home.

The detective fired two shots when he thought he saw the suspect aiming a gun at him. Police later determined it was the detective's own reflection.

The suspect ran away and dropped a gun that police found in the house.

A teenage boy in the house was not hurt and police say they don't know if the suspect lived there.
