Who Would Steal From a Church?

Editor's Note from May 21, 2014: The local contractor in this case has been exonerated and issued a formal apology by Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri-Ferman. Her office also paid out $1.6 million dollars to Walter Logan to settle his claim against her.

A Radnor man’s accused of ripping off a church.

59-year old Walter Logan is President of the Delta Corporation.

His company was hired to do renovation work and build a new wing for the Salem Baptist Church in Jenkintown.

Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman said Logan pocketed money he was supposed to use to pay subcontractors and then never finished the work.

Logan has been booked on a number of theft charges.

According to court documents, the church lost $300,000 it paid to Logan and another million dollars it had to spend to get the job finished.

In a statement to NBC10, Logan said the criminal charges appeared to be the result of bad blood between the church and his company.

The Delta Organization had filed a civil suit against the church, according to Logan, for non-payment.

Logan said the charges against him were brought without any of his input and before his civil case against the church could be heard.
