What a Drag: Town Tables Ban on Cross-Dressing

Committee members in a southern New Jersey town have tabled an ordinance that would have banned people from dressing in clothing of the opposite sex and made it illegal to keep a "house of ill repute."

About 20 people told the Mullica Township committee on Tuesday night that the ordinance was outdated and could do more harm than good.

Mayor Jim Brown tells The Press of Atlantic City the police department had requested a Peace and Good Order ordinance.

Committeeman Anthony Gabris says he thought the purpose of the ordinance was to allow those charged with crimes in Mullica to plead down to a municipal offense.

The mayor says the committee will re-examine the ordinance.
