West Philly Fire Injures Dad, Daughter

Officials say both are being treated for smoke inhalation.

Officials say an early morning house fire in West Philadelphia sent two people to the hospital with burns.

The Fire Department says the blaze at the two-story home on the 5800 block of Delancy Street in the Cobbs Creek section of the city was reported at 6:40 a.m. Monday. There was heavy fire on the first floor by the time firefighters arrived.

Officials say one man was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania with second-degree burns to his forehead and hands. His family tells NBC Philadelphia that he is 87 years old. They also say that his 51-year-old daughter was taken to the hospital with burns to her face. She suffered from smoke inhalation as well.

The fire was brought under control by 7:05 a.m.

The fire marshal is investigating the cause.
