Residents of Robinson St. were told by animal control to set traps to catch the critters.
Raccoons are making it dangerous to go out at night in one West Philadelphia neighborhood.
Residents of the 1600 block of Robinson St. say the nocturnal animals are clawing at window screens, making holes in their homes and rooting through their garbage. Some say they’ve even seen they during the day.
“We’re afraid they’re rabid in the daytime and that someone is going to get hurt,” said homeowner Priscilla Porter
Upon contacting animal control, residents were told that the raccoons are their responsibility and to set up traps. Animal control told NBC Philadelphia that they only come out when an animal is sick or injured. .
“We’re basically just city folk, it’s just hard. We can’t run – half of us,” says Porter.
One man found a remedy that he claims works. It’s called Bobcat Urine and costs about $25.
“It scares away raccoons, and even mice,” resident Major Fife said.
