Week Late, Mummers March for Mardi Gras in Manayunk

For the second time in 2015 and 11 days after Fat Tuesday kicked off Mardi Gras in New Orleans, the iconic Broad Street strutters are marching in Philadelphia. But this time it's a route through Manayunk.

The Mummers String Bands hit Main Street starting at 10 a.m. They marched from Shurs Lane towards the Green Lane Bridge.

The parade continued until noon. From noon to 2 p.m., the bands performed in retail and restaurant establishments and the 18 participating groups split among 11 different bars for clubhouse afterparties, which lasted until 4 p.m.

The festivities were added last December and were originally scheduled for Sun. Feb 22. Officials postponed the event last week due to weather.
