‘Wawa Welcome America' Performers Announced

This summer's Wawa Welcome America festival has officially released a portion of its performing lineup.

Mayor Michael Nutter announced Tuesday that Philadelphia's native The Roots will perform at the weeklong festival as the featured house band. Jennifer Nettles and Miguel will also take the stage on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

This year's festival will run for a total of eight days, from June 27th to July 4th.

Every day of the week will be jam-packed with Philly-centric events, including a free screening of "Rocky" at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. According to organizers there will also be a community day in Port Richmond, a block party in Center City on July 3rd; a Penn's Landing concert by The Philadelphia Orchestra at Penn's Landing, and of course, Wawa Hoagie Day on July 2.

More musical guests are expected to be announced later this week. For more information, follow the official Wawa Welcome America Twitter handle "@July4thPhilly", and check out the #PhillyOwnsTheFourth hashtag as well.
