NBC10 Philadelphia - Nefertiti Jaquez
A thief made off with hundreds of gallons of diesel fuel from a Wawa on Bartram Avenue early Monday morning. NBC10's Nefertiti Jaquez explains how he allegedly did it.
Philadelphia Police say that somehow, someway someone made off with hundreds of gallons of diesel fuel from a busy Wawa gas station in the Eastwick section of Southwest Philly early Monday morning.
Investigators say that a Stroehman bread truck pulled up to the station at 8220 Bartram Ave. around 3 a.m. and parked over a cap above the underground tanks.
“We believe that there was a pump on that truck that was able to pull the diesel fuel from the underground tank onto the truck,” said police Lt. John Walker.
After about 40 minutes the man drove off 513 gallons of diesel fuel with more than $2,000.
