Woman Says Men Posing as Police Officers Tried to Abduct Her

Two men impersonating Philadelphia Police officers tried to abduct a woman from a Northeast Philadelphia street early Monday.

The 46-year-old woman said she was walking with her 53-year-old male friend along the 13000 block of Trevose Road in the Somerton section of Philadelphia around 2:15 a.m. when two men in a silver sedan with tinted windows approached them and identified themselves as police officers, said Philadelphia Police.

The woman told investigators that the wannabe officers -- who didn't wear uniforms, never showed police badges and never produced weapons -- had gotten calls about her, said police.

The duo walked away and the woman's friend went home as the woman continued to walk in the neighborhood, said police.

A short time later, the same two men approached the woman again and asked if she remembered them, she told police.

The men then drove off.

Earlier, investigators said the woman and her friend were near the Wawa at Bustleton and Philmont avenues. The police report, however, made no mention if the duo was headed to or from the convenience store at the time they were approached. [[238427591, C]]
