Southwest Philly Water Main Break Impacts 50 Homes

Dozens of homes are without water on a Southwest Philadelphia street due to a water main break.

The 8-inch water main broke on the 7600 block of Elmwood Avenue around 6 p.m. Monday. The water caused the street to partially collapse.

Crews with the Philadelphia Water Department arrived at the scene. Around 50 properties in the area are without water. The road was closed as crews made repairs.

Repairs were completed Tuesday morning and service restored, said water department spokesman John DiGiulio.

No word yet on when the road will reopen.
