Philadelphia Police issued arrest warrants for two people in the attack of a man in Northeast Philadelphia more than a week ago, according to the District Attorney's Office.
Mark Wallace was brutally beaten on Thursday, April 8 around 7:30 p.m. at Knights and Fairdale roads while he was walking, said police.
Wallace is now in a coma at Jefferson Hospital because of severe brain injuries. Wallace’s sister, Nancy Kolenkiewicz, said the hospital called to tell her the grim news.
“They said my brother had been beaten up and they wanted permission to give a blood transfusion,” Kolenkiewicz said.
Kolenkiewicz said she does not expect her brother to survive.
“Death is imminent. I mean they said there is no coming back from such severe brain swelling. We lost our brother and we need some answers.”
Police have yet to arrest anyone in the case. Kolenkiewicz and other family members say they are growing frustrated with the lack of arrests.
“Don’t [police] protect us?" Kolenkiewicz said. "We have a life too and we have people who want to know. We want this solved."
