It took a little more than a week for crews to repair street in busy shopping district

Water from a broken 12-inch main buckled the asphalt and caused more than a week of repairs that forced traffic to be diverted from Walnut Street during the busiest time of year for many area businesses.

Sidewalks in the area remained opened during the repairs while traffic was diverted onto nearby streets.

The street opened with a little more than a week left before Christmas. Now if only shoppers can find an open parking meter...
