Man, 60, Robs Del. Pharmacy: Cops

Man caught after allegedly knocking off a 2nd pharmacy

Police arrested a 60-year-old man Tuesday and charged him with robbing a Wilmington Pharmacy over the weekend.

Joseph Walling of Newark, Del. Is charged with first-degree robbery and wearing a disguise during a felony after he allegedly robbed the Chestnut Run Shopping Center Walgreens Pharmacy on Faulkland Road.

He allegedly entered the store around 5:15 p.m. and handed a note to the woman behind the pharmacy counter demanding that she hand over prescription narcotics. The note allegedly said that Walling had a gun, according to Delaware State Police.

The pharmacist handed over drugs and the suspect fled. No one was hurt, cops said.

Walling was caught after allegedly also hitting a Walgreens on the 2600 block of Naamans Creek Road, Upper Chichester Township, Pa. Tuesday night around 9 p.m. The details of that robbery closely matched the earlier incident in Delaware, police said.

An alert including a description of the white Chevrolet S-10 pickup that the suspect was driving was sent out. A trooper heard the alert and saw a truck matching that description in the parking lot of a Claymont, Del. restaurant.

Walling, who was driving the pickup was arrested without incident, police said.

He was sent to jail on $30,000 cash bond.

Police were still investigating the Upper Chichester incident, troopers said.
