Police are searching for a man accused of assaulting a World War II veteran during a home invasion in Burlington County.

It happened Sunday, February 5, at a home on Budd Avenue in Pemberton Boro. Police say the 86-year-old victim was asleep in his bedroom when he was woken up by a loud noise. When he went to investigate, police say the veteran encountered a man inside his apartment.

The man allegedly demanded money and threw various items at the veteran, including a large fan. Investigators say the veteran escaped his apartment and called police but the attacker managed to flee before they arrived.

The victim was taken to Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly where he was treated and released for cuts and bruises.

The suspect is described as a thin, possibly Hispanic male, standing 5-foot-9. He was last seen wearing black pants and a black hooded sweatshirt which he wore over his head.

Anyone with information on the incident should call the Red Lion Station Detective Bureau at 609-859-2282.
