Longtime Voice of NBC10 Dies

J.J. Maura was a fixture at NBC10 for 2 decades

Longtime NBC10 voice-over talent Joseph J. Maura, Jr. lost his battle with cancer Wednesday.

J.J. was 61.

You may not recognized J.J’s face but you have certainly heard his voice over many of our ads and stories. He joined WCAU-TV 20 years ago and only recently retired.

Before coming to NBC10 J.J. worked on TV and radio at various places such as QVC, WIP, KQV Pittsburgh, WAEB 790 and other stations.

On-air he went by names ranging from Jim Hamilton to Jim Lloyd to J.J. Media.

J.J. was a native of Hellertown, Pa. and 1967 graduate of Liberty High School. He is survived by his wife of 39 years Lois, his mother Isabel, four children (Lisa, Ann, Russell and David) and 12 grandchildren.

J.J.’s funeral service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 111 Dewberry Ave., Bethlehem, Pa. following a viewing starting at 1 p.m.
