Vigils Held for Victims of Brutal Upper Darby Attack

Attacker still on the loose

Friends and family mourned the victims of a brutal home invasion in Upper Darby for a second day Thursday evening.

Over 300 people joined together at St. Alice Church for a vigil for the couple and their family.

An intruder broke into a couple’s home Monday night and attacked the husband and wife with a hammer and chisel while they were sleeping, according to Upper Darby Police.

The attacker then tied the two victims up with electrical cord and sexually assaulted the wife.

The husband did not survive the attack.

This is the second of three prayer vigils at the church. A third vigil is scheduled for Friday night at 7 p.m. in the church at Walnut Street and Copley Road in Upper Darby.

A viewing for the husband will follow Friday’s vigil.
